Death Cab For Cutie & Ben Gibbard

I've had a really nice ongoing design relationship with Death Cab For Cutie. In addition to the number of show posters I've designed, I've also come up with some vinyl record art, digital single art and even Ben's website.

The Georgia EP: an EP of covers that acted as a fundraiser for Fair Fight and their work with the Democratic nominees in the battle for the Senate in Georgia. I was inspired by an old jazz LP by Eddie Heywood that showed torn pieces of paper on the cover and had the idea of illustrating the state of Georgia to look as though it were put together by blue shades of paper. I designed everything from the jacket and label to the insert and hype sticker. The record was pressed on "Georgia Peach" colored vinyl.

"Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)": the digital release of the cover of Darlene Love's classic Christmas song. Inspired by the first line of the song.

Ben's Website: working with a web designer, I illustrated and designed the landing page and sections for benjamingibbard.com and pulled inspiration from his solo album art and songs.

"Ichiro's Theme": This baseball vinyl was designed for the release of Ben Gibbard's song "Ichiro's Theme". Inspiration for the label came from a 1969 Seattle Pilots baseball and the type from modern day baseballs as well. The simple sleeve is subtly distressed to pay homaged to old baseball cards. This vinyl is long-sold-out so if you find one, you better hang on to it!
