A few years ago I was with my buddies The Sidekicks while they were on tour. Somewhere in Southern California or Arizona we stopped at a truck stop that shared a parking lot with what used to be a restaurant. The building that once housed that restaurant was a beautiful, empty mid-century building. I snapped a photo when we were stopped and then finally decided to illustrate my version of it.
